Description The Department of
Arabic and Islamic Studies at Georgetown University invites applications for a full-time position of Teaching Professor of Arabic, open rank, starting August 2025, for a three-year renewable contract.
We seek a dynamic individual committed to innovative methods of teaching Modern Standard Arabic in the context of Arab-Islamic culture, with the expectation to direct our Arabic language program. Applicants should have native or near-native fluency in Modern Standard Arabic and an Arabic dialect; thorough grounding in classical Arabic language (including syntax and morphology) and culture; and experience in proficiency-based, communicative methods of teaching Modern Standard Arabic. Experience in proficiency testing is a plus. The successful applicant will teach eighteen credits per year of Arabic language, including at least two six-credit intensive language courses. Duties also include coordination of the Arabic language program.
Qualifications A Ph.D. in hand by Summer 2025 is preferred; advanced ABDs will also be considered.

The projected base salary range is
$61,042 - $67,824. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
