We are seeking an Optical Transmission System Test Engineer to define, plan, and execute test programs supporting the development and delivery of undersea optical transmission systems .
In this role, you will:
Run transmission experiments on prototypes of long-haul fiber optic systems for validation and evaluation.
Lead experimental programs to qualify new system designs and design processes, as well as upgrades to existing fiber-optic networks.
Cover all aspects of optical communications , working with advanced technologies such as:
DWDM transmission
Coherent detection at rates above 100 Gb/s
Optical amplifiers
Nonlinear fiber transmission
Optical polarization effects
OADM systems
Some travel will be required for field testing .
Conduct optical transmission testing and optical component characterization, including:
Optical gain and loss, OSNR, PMD, PDL, dispersion
Nonlinear processes (four-wave mixing, Raman gain, Brillouin scattering)
BER, OSNR, and eye diagram analysis
Develop and implement computer-aided test processes ; analyze measurement results and provide actionable insights.
Define test proposals, negotiate requirements with stakeholders, and deliver clear, detailed reports.
Collaborate cross-functionally, demonstrating strong laboratory, analytical, and communication skills .
Contribute effectively as both a team leader and a team member .
M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Physics or related field strongly preferred.
Bachelor of Science (BS) with relevant work experience will also be considered.
5–10 years of industry experience in optical transmission or related fields.
Strong communication and presentation skills required.
Knowledge of programming languages preferred.
