Atlas is looking for someone to join our Legal Team as **Senior Litigation and Employment Counsel** to be located in one of our hub offices or in a remote location. The Senior Litigation and Employment Counsel will be responsible for managing litigation and handling employment law matters for the Company.
**Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:**
+ Be a valued and trusted member of the Atlas Legal Department.
+ Advise internal stakeholders as to legal risks and liabilities associated with litigation, claims, and employment law matters.
+ Act as the point of contact for litigation, claims, and employment law matters, partnering and coordinating with other members of the Legal Department and the Company.
+ Advise the Company, including HR professionals, on employment related issues and obligations in multi-jurisdictional operations, including internal disputes, wage and hour compliance, development of HR policies, and emerging legislative and regulatory changes affecting employment and labor obligations.
+ Oversee and manage all phases of commercial, construction, employment, and certain personal injury/auto/property damage litigation and claims, including early dispute resolution, discovery, motions, trial preparation, and post-trial matters.
+ Engage, manage, and work directly with outside counsel on litigation matters, including selecting and coordinating with outside counsel, managing legal budgets, and driving case strategy.
+ Draft, review, and negotiate pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and other case documents.
+ Conduct internal investigations, perform legal research, issue and manage litigation holds, and manage the discovery process, including the production of documents, deposition preparation, and responding to discovery requests.
+ Communicate routinely and work directly with insurance companies in the handling of litigation matters.
+ Support the health & safety team with OSHA and other regulatory and policy matters, working with outside counsel as appropriate
+ Develop and deliver proactive training to business leaders on employment law matters and dispute avoidance.
+ Deliver practical, business-oriented legal advice with a focus on meeting the Company goals in a legally compliant manner.
+ Collaborate with other members of the Legal Team to continuously improve the Legal Team's processes and operations.
+ Assist and support other members of the Legal Department as needed.
**Qualifications**
+ 8+ years of litigation and employment law experience, with 3 to 5 years of engineering/construction related industry experience preferred.
+ Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to a State Bar.
+ Significant experience advising on employment related issues.
+ Significant experience managing or litigating complex cases in state and/or federal court.
+ Both in-house and law firm experience preferred but not necessary.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Team player with a positive attitude who enjoys collaborating with others.
+ Ability to manage a large, fast-paced, and dynamic workload with little supervision.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Strong client-service mentality and excellent work ethic.
+ Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail.
+ Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
+ Willingness to travel when needed.
**Physical Demands / Work Environment**
While performing the duties of this job, the work generally requires the routine physical demands associated with an office job, including working from a desk with a computer and movement within the office setting. Regular domestic travel for meetings and project site visits will be required from time to time.
**Compensation:**
$165K - $190k annual salary
The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state's law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
