Job Description

Cedar Park Med is seeking a compassionate and skilled Art Therapist to join our healthcare team. The Art Therapist will provide therapeutic interventions to patients, helping improve their mental, emotional, and social well-being through creative expression. This position requires a deep understanding of therapeutic art practices, patient assessment, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Schedule: Day shift, 5 hours per day, 2 days per week. 8hrs a day, 5 days a week. And weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and evaluate patient needs and interests in relation to their recreational and social adjustment .
• Develop and implement individualized art therapy plans to enhance patients' physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
• Conduct individual and group therapy sessions , using art as a tool for communication and healing.
• Assist patients in leisure activities to engage the mind, body, and spirit, fostering adjustment to life with injury, illness, or disability.
• Analyze patient behaviors and progress , reporting findings to the treatment team.
• Utilize therapeutic de-escalation techniques for patients who may be aggressive or experiencing crisis situations.
• Maintain accurate documentation in medical records and provide progress reports to the treatment team.
• Collaborate with nursing, medical staff, social workers, and therapists to support patient treatment and discharge planning.
• Recommend, request, and maintain art therapy supplies and equipment .
• Supervise students and volunteers participating in the art therapy program.
• Participate in departmental training, in-services, and other professional development activities.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Master's Degree in Art Therapy from an accredited institution.
• Limited Permit in Art Therapy required at the time of appointment.
• Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) certification required within two years of appointment.
• Experience working with psychiatric, rehabilitation, or long-term care patients is highly preferred.
• Ability to manage patients with behavioral challenges , including those who may be aggressive or potentially violent.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to effectively collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
