Summary: The Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Pub General Manager in overseeing the front of house staff and ensuring guest satisfaction. This position reports to the Pub General Manager and is expected to work evenings, weekends and most holidays.

• Ensure guests have a great experience and are excited to come back for more
  • Connect regularly with guests to ensure they feel welcomed, satisfied and valued
  • Engage Monk Club members to keep them feeling connected
  • Manage and facilitate events
  • Know the food and drink menus inside and out and be able to respond immediately to customer queries about ingredients, preparation methods, styles, etc.
  • Fill in where needed to ensure our standards of service are met
  • Ensure that the entryway, retail area, pub spaces, choir loft, bathrooms and outdoor spaces are clean and safe
• Utilize the servant leadership approach to energize and connect with staff and to ensure their feeling of being a valued member of the team
  • Assist in hiring, orientation and training of new employees that will be a great fit with our culture
  • Pre-shifts with staff to set the day up for success
  • Discipline staff as needed documenting with the Employee Corrective Action Form 
  • Determine needs for continuous education for staff 
  • Work closely with Chef and the BOH to communicate ideas and guest feedback
• Successfully perform office duties
  • Responsible for opening and closing the pub, accurately cashing out staff, putting together money drop for bank, locking up, setting alarm, etc.
  • Keep Toast updated and accurate and ensure all staff are fully trained on its proper use
• Stay connected with brewery staff to understand and promote upcoming beer releases

• Passion for all things Vivant – beer, food, spirits, exceptional service & experience, sustainability, and building community
• An understanding of beer and the brewing process so you can confidently lead impromptu tours
• Understanding of Vivant history, policies and procedures
• Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 40 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion
• A passion for continuous improvement and learning
• Desire to work evenings, weekends and holidays
