This contract-to-hire Systems/Network Engineer position is with a state agency in Tempe, Arizona. The role involves ensuring the availability, security, and performance of the agency's infrastructure and applications. Responsibilities include proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex system and application issues across multi-tiered architectures, Microsoft Windows and Linux environments, and public cloud and on-premises data centers. Responsibilities:
- Proactive monitoring and maintenance of agency infrastructure and applications.
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex system and application issues.
- Collaborating with internal IT teams and external vendors.
- Supporting DevOps initiatives and promoting process automation.
- Maintaining accurate documentation for systems, processes, and procedures.
- Identifying and addressing security vulnerabilities.
- Managing multi-tiered COTS applications, public cloud services, physical and virtual servers, storage arrays, security appliances, Active Directory and Group Policy, and secure remote access systems.
- Adhering to IT Service Management (ITSM) processes.
- Managing tickets, handling incident escalations.
- Contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Extensive experience supporting enterprise infrastructure.
- Thorough understanding of Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Operational automation experience using PowerShell or similar platforms.
- Proven customer service, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, operationally driven environment.
- Experience working in 24/7, mission-critical enterprise environments.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer/Information Systems or related field, or five years of enterprise-level server/network administration experience.
- Industry certifications related to AWS, Cisco, Microsoft, or VMware.
- Experience with DevOps practices, automation improvements, and supporting cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments.
