Robotics Technician | Allendale, MI

Salary Range: $56,000 - $88,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, set up, and calibrate robotic systems and peripheral equipment on the production floor.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspections on industrial robots to ensure optimal performance.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and software issues in robotic cells and automated systems.
  • Repair or replace faulty components, wiring, and robotic parts, utilizing schematics and technical manuals.
  • Program and re-program robot paths, logic, and control parameters for new products or process changes.
  • Optimize robot performance for cycle time, accuracy, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Document all maintenance, repairs, and programming changes accurately in maintenance management systems.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and procedures when working with robotic equipment.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with industrial robots (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA) including programming, setup, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for machine control and automation integration.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety protocols and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Advanced PLC programming experience (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley Logix)
  • Experience integrating and troubleshooting industrial vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence)
  • Familiarity with industrial networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet) and basic network troubleshooting
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies in an automated environment
