The Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa is seeking a Nurse Clinician to function as a clinical nurse expert and care coordinator to provide patient services for the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program of the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center (HCCC). The Nurse Clinician functions as an administrative and clinical liaison to patients during pre-transplant, mobilization and collection, transplant, post-transplant, and maintenance phases; educates patients and their families; coordinates and oversees the flow of patients through the phases of stem cell transplantation and maintenance care; and serves as liaison between patient, transplant physician, transplant team and referring physician.

Administrative supervision is provided by the Stem Cell Transplant & Cellular Therapy Program Quality & Assistant Director and other program physicians, as appropriate.

Provide clinical supervision and evaluation of patient care related to specialty.

The NCI designation recognized our cancer center, and its research scientist, physicians, and other health care professionals, for their roles in advancing cancer research that impacts on our ability to prevent, detect and treat our patients with cancer. Not just a floor, or a building, or even confined to a single college. Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center coordinates all cancer-related research, education, and patient care by faculty from 41 departments and six colleges, as well as UI Hospitals and Clinics and UI Children’s Hospital.
Percent of Time: 80%
Schedule: Monday-Friday, hours may be worked between 7am and 5pm.
Pay Grade: 70

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
2. Reasonable amount (5 years) of oncology nursing experience.
3. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
4. Demonstrated expertise in blood and marrow stem cell transplantation.
5. Proficient in computer software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and various databases.
6. Current Iowa Nursing License.
7. Experience managing complex information with attention to detail.
8. Excellent organizational skills.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Recent clinical oncology experience.
2. Experience with EPIC.
3. Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Certification.
4. Knowledge of University policies, procedures, and regulations.
