Job Description:

Duties:

• This position is for assisting lead scientists to conduct biological experiments, especially rearing insects, and other tasks as necessary in a biological laboratory environment.
• Responsibilities include culturing insects for study with new crop technologies and providing support to a team of people rearing insects to study.
• The candidate must be comfortable working with insects.
• Experiences such as working in an insectary or studying insect-plant interactions would be beneficial.
• Daily works rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Works are under immediate supervision.
• May work on different projects based on the needs.
• This role is also responsible for data recording, cleaning, disinfecting, maintaining clean rooms and equipment in laboratories.

Skills:

• Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Works under immediate supervision.
• Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Education:

• May require a associate's or bachelor's degree in area of specialty.
