What can you expect in this role? Reporting to Property Underwriting Team Leader, the Junior Property Underwriter provides detailed underwriting and risk analysis for Family Insurances’ personal lines products.
The incumbent responds to product/procedural questions from underwriters and brokers; provides guidance for complex new business, participates in post-loss underwriting reviews, and reviews claim referral cases in accordance with the Company’s philosophy. The Junior Property Underwriter shares responsibility for risk selection, rating, and customer service with brokers and partners.
Responsibilities - Accept, reject, endorse, renew or cancel contracts following company underwriting policies/procedures, applicable laws and regulations, based on assigned authority level
- Answer inquiries and make recommendations to brokers through verbal and written correspondence
- Responsible for guiding and directing brokers on the use of the functional application of the Company’s point-of-sale system
- Develop and maintain relationships with assigned broker groups to develop a stable and profitable book of business
- Understand and communicate underwriting business rules and guidelines
- Participate in post-loss underwriting reviews and review of claim referral cases in accordance with the Company’s philosophy.
- Provide training to brokers on underwriting matters
- Assist manager with special projects as assigned
