About The Role: We are searching for a
Head of Design to lead and scale our design team and deliver exceptional user experiences across our web and command-line tools. Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for ensuring Semgrep’s UX is industry-leading while maintaining a solid, intuitive UI.
As a hands-on design leader with a strong UX background and outcome orientation, you will:

Leadership & Strategy (50%) :
- Lead and grow our design team, fostering a high-performance culture
- Define and execute a UX strategy driving measurable product adoption and user success
- Actively participate in product management meetings ensuring product/design alignment
- Maintain a proactive, strategic approach (less than 10% of the team’s work should be reactive)
- Deliver at least two major product metric improvements per quarter

Individual Contribution (50%) :
- Own UX for core workflows, optimizing for speed, efficiency, and task success
- Conduct user research and translate insights into UX flow diagrams and wireframes
- Collaborate with PMs to define and measure in-product success outcomes
- Continuously iterate on UX flows based on data
- Leverage AI and cutting-edge tools for prototyping and testing
This high-impact role is based in our San Francisco office, with the expectation of 2 days/week in-office attendance.
Requirements: You are ideal for this role if you have: - Deep UX background, with a bias for action—willing to ship wireframes to achieve 100% task success
- Experience at a world-class product company (e.g., Dropbox, Figma, Facebook) with measurable outcomes
- Strong product thinking; ability to work seamlessly with PMs and designers
- Data-driven design approach focusing on user success
- Enthusiasm for AI and new technologies in design and iteration
- Experience in a fast-paced tech environment is helpful, but product thinking and data-driven skills are most valued
