GTAW Pipe & Structural Welder

Direct-hire role through MAU for a client in Columbia, SC .

A day in this role

Your shift starts early—Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM , with occasional Fridays when projects demand it. Youll work in a cleaner-than-average fabrication shop that values precision, teamwork, and a positive, supportive atmosphere. No traveladadjust purposeful, hands-on work.

What you19ll tackle

• Lay down code-quality TIG/GTAW welds that meet ASME pressure vessel and piping codes .
• Perform full-penetration weld prep on pipe ends and fittings.
• GTAW on carbon steel, stainless steel, and duplex stainless materials.
• Read fabrication drawings and welding symbols to build accurate pipe assemblies and skids.
• Calculate precise measurements, including pipe fitting take-outs .
• Weld pipe sizes from 1/2" to 36" and handle structural steel in all positions.

What you bring

• 2+ years of on-the-job TIG welding experience.
• Ability to pass a fixed 6G weld test and perform TIG welding in a fixed 6G position.
• Skilled with a high-frequency amperage control foot pedal .
• Knowledge to select the correct filler wire for the base metal.
• Fluent in interpreting drawings and welding symbols.
• Comfortable calculating pipe measurements and fitting take-outs.
• No high school diploma or GED required.
• Proficient in welding setups for production ; experienced using a TIG Welder .

• Monday013Thursday | 6:00 AM014:30 PM
• Occasional Fridays required
• Fabrication shop setting; supportive culture; no travel
