Job Description

A top client located in Austin, TX is seeking a proactive and analytical Director of Finance to join their team. This individual will work closely with the CEO and senior leaders of the organization to generate insightful analysis for operating efficiencies, cost and profitability analysis, and bank relationships. Strong people skills and the ability to motivate and manage our finance department of three direct reports are essential. This individual will engage in close collaboration with other department leaders to drive strategic decision-making through insightful financial analysis and data-driven recommendations. Additionally, this role will be instrumental in identifying product and market trends, assessing and reporting on business performance, and proactively enhancing operations through forecasting, ad-hoc analysis, and collaborative strategic development initiatives.
As the Director of Finance, you will:
  • Oversee all financial reporting and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Proactively pursue data and financial analysis to provide insights and recommendations to company leadership, including product profitability analysis, margin analysis for pricing optimization, and cost reduction strategies.
  • Maintain financial and operational flash reporting and assist in monthly reporting to the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting efforts, including the preparation of the annual budget at a granular level.
  • Develop and maintain pricing models to evaluate the financial impact of pricing strategies and ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Assist in modeling for ROI analysis on business investments and provide support to the CEO for capital allocation decisions.
  • Partner with product management, marketing, and sourcing teams to evaluate the financial viability of new product initiatives and market entry strategies.
  • Monitor industry trends and the competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate across business units to provide support and insights to enhance the operations and performance of the business.
  • Support M&A activities through financial, operational, and strategic due diligence and integration planning.
  • Manage relationships with financial institutions and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure robust financial controls are in place and continuously seek to improve financial processes and systems.
  • Stay updated on Amazon marketplace trends and financial strategies to optimize company performance in this sector.
 
To be successful in the role you must possess:
  • CPA certification desired
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in mid-size business accounting, financial statement preparation, and financial planning and analysis, preferably within an e-commerce or retail environment.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis.
  • Strong background and knowledge of ERP systems and the ability to operate within business management systems.
  • Experience with Amazon marketplace financial strategies and analytics preferred.
  • Experience working within a private label or direct-to-consumer (DTC) brand on Amazon preferred.
  • Strong expertise in Amazon Seller Central, including knowledge of Amazon's advertising      ecosystem (PPC),  and inventory management preferred.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Amazon Analytics, Helium 10, Jungle Scout, or similar platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of Amazon FBA operations and supply chain logistics preferred.
