Position Summary:
We are looking for a motivated and entrepreneurial Credit Underwriter to support our rapidly growing commercial lending business. If you have a background in floorplan or inventory finance, that's a plus! As a collaborative team player who thrives on challenges, you will play a key role in shaping our evolving business in a dynamic market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze credit requests for commercial inventory loan financing, assessing the risk associated with extending credit.
- Evaluate business financial performance by reviewing balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow trends, along with key financial ratios and metrics.
- Assess the personal character and worth of owners and guarantors as part of the review process.
- Present credit requests with appropriate conditions of approval and required loan documentation.
- Prepare detailed credit narratives for new and existing customers, focusing on risk assessment, financial capacity, principal experience, guarantor support, industry, and economic trends.
- Conduct financial statement analysis, evaluating ratios and measuring credit risk.
- Review consumer credit and third-party business reports to inform decision-making.
- Determine necessary documentation, including guarantees, UCCs, and additional collateral.
- Perform periodic reviews of customer relationships to confirm risk ratings and financial stability.
- Collaborate with prospective and existing customers, as well as internal departments like sales, operations, and legal.
- Handle ancillary responsibilities, including system verification, documentation review, training, and reporting as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
- A minimum of three years of relevant credit experience
- Strong ability to analyze financial statements and tax returns, including trend, ratio, and cash flow analysis
- In-depth knowledge of secured lending documentation, such as UCC, Purchase Money Security Interests, Intercreditor Agreements, and Letters of Credit
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a keen attention to detail
