CAD Operator – HVAC & Mechanical Construction  

Location: Columbia, SC

Walker White Mechanical is seeking a skilled and detail-driven CAD Operator to join our growing mechanical contracting team in Columbia, South Carolina . This position offers hands-on involvement in commercial construction projects, drafting mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings for commercial HVAC, plumbing, and piping installations
• Use Revit , AutoCAD MEP , and Navisworks for mechanical layout coordination and clash detection
• Review and interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical construction drawings
• Draft ductwork, piping, and equipment layout plans for field installation and fabrication
• Collaborate with project managers , field superintendents , and design engineers to develop constructible plans
• Update and maintain CAD drawings throughout the project lifecycle
• Support BIM coordination and model integration on large-scale commercial projects

Qualifications:

• Proficient in AutoCAD (required); experience with Revit , Navisworks , and other BIM software is a plus
• Working knowledge of HVAC design , plumbing systems , and mechanical drawings
• Minimum of 2 years of CAD drafting experience in a construction, engineering, or mechanical contracting environment
• Strong understanding of construction documentation , blueprints , and technical specifications
• Familiarity with BIM processes , fabrication standards , and MEP coordination
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
• Effective verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with sheet metal and piping layout
• Familiarity with prefabrication processes
• Knowledge of mechanical code compliance and construction site procedures
