Brand Designer Location Hybrid work in Chicago, IL : KTGY

Role Overview

Works in a collaborative manner within a small branding design team, in all aspects of the digital art, graphic design and branding process including preparation of presentations and layouts, environmental graphics, branding, logo development, identity, signage and wayfinding, typography, promotional and collateral materials, and custom artwork within a creative, fast-paced interior and architecture design firm. Uses a team-based approach with other Designers, Interns, Lead Designers and the Director on a variety of projects and assignments. Assignments and design direction primarily comes from the Design Lead, or Director. The ideal candidate is a passionate individual, with an eagerness to learn and develop strong and thoughtful conceptual skills that ultimately result in multi-layered brand identities.

D uties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to collaborate and support all designers in the conceptualization, design, and development of branding projects from preliminary concept and critical thinking through fabrication and delivery
  • Supports the design team with concept ideation to generate dynamic and engaging design ideas
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
  • Performs assignments with instructions as to the general results expected with guidance from Senior Designers and Creative Brand Director
  • Prepares preliminary design concepts and alternatives for review by a Design Lead or senior management
  • Ability to support the creation of concept design packages, brand identity systems and final artwork throughout all design phases for concept, bidding and fabrication purposes
  • Ability to execute project tasks accurately and efficiently
  • Able to support and complement Design Lead, or Director with the preparation of client presentations and meetings, when applicable
  • Other duties as assigned my management

Design:

  • Use graphic design principles to clarify and elevate design concepts, narratives, and presentations
  • Demonstrates an understanding for branding strategies and implementations as it pertains to the built environment and guest experiences
  • Displays strong creative design skills including concept development
  • Displays competent, skillful thought regarding color theory, typography and composition
  • Works with project teams to create client presentations of design work including graphic sketches, logos, renderings, graphics, brand collateral and concept imagery

Technical:

  • Familiar with print and digital production processes as well as best practices
  • Possess knowledge of graphic design methods, especially typography, layout, and production methods
  • Deep working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and file creation, maintenance, and efficiency
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited Design program
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in proven graphic design field or agency, preferably in branding with hospitality, food and beverage or retail experience, but not required
  • Experience collaborating with interior design or architecture fields preferred, but not required
