Job Description and Duties

The DOR Financial Services & Reporting Section (FS&R) is seeking multiple Accounting Officer-Specialist(s) to perform challenging professional accounting work in the establishment and maintenance of accounts payable. An Accounting Officer Specialist is expected to consistently exercise a high degree of initiative, independence, and accountability in support of financial operations and DOR’s mission. Accounting Officer Specialists are the primary point of contact for accounts payable inquiries and are required to act as the first level for customer support, to problem solve and then provide solution.

Under Government Code 14200, this position is a hybrid, in-office/telework position, and may be subject to change. Incumbent must live and work in California. Incumbent can be required to report to the office, or any designated location at any time. Telework agreements can be modified and/or cancelled at any time.

Statement of Qualifications (SOQ):

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required for this position. You will need to provide direct responses to each of the numbered items below. 1. Describe your experience handling Accounts Payable inquiries from internal or external entities and resolving the issues.

2. Describe your level of experience using Excel; include any experience using Excel formulas, index match, conditional formatting, queries, tables and/or other Excel functions.

3. Describe your experience and/or education that would make you the best candidate for this position.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Knowledge of government accounting principles and procedures.

• Knowledge and experience with the Financial Information System of California (Fi$CAL) and California Automated Travel Expense Reimbursement System (CalATERS).

• Knowledge and ability to analyze data, draw sound conclusions, identify & support the implementation of process improvements, provide customer service focused solutions that result in streamlining work processes and the efficient use of Accounts Payable resources and business system capabilities.

• A high level of consultative acumen, analytical ability, customer service skill which utilizes diplomacy and partnership in verbal & written communications.

• Demonstrative skill to multi-task in managing workloads and meeting individual and team specific deadlines.

• Excellent computer skills including the use Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Publisher, TEAMS) and Adobe Pro.

• Demonstrative skill to support and maintain the confidence and cooperation of peers, management and 3rd party stakeholders who are contacted.
